Articles on any aspect of Clinical Engineering or related topics are most welcome. If you would like to submit an article please contact a member of the publishing committee.

Clinical Engineering Benefits

  • Cost savings to the institution (net of the in house employment and associated costs).
  • The presence of expert personnel to ensure that equipment in the hospital conforms to relevant safety standards.
  • Equipment is managed cost-effectively as a hospital asset. External contracts alone cannot fulfill this important aspect.
  • Improved reliability of the hospital's equipment
  • Impartial and expert advice to hospital management in the procurement of electromedical equipment.
  • Opportunities to develop customised items of specialised equipment in the hospital which may also reduce costs.
  • Providing employment opportunities for skilled graduates.

Who are Clinical Engineers?

A Clinical Engineer is a professional who supports and enhances patient care by applying engineering and managerial skills to health care technology. Clinical Engineering provides quality management of equipment technology and creates savings when operated effectively. Budgetary constraints provide a strong incentive for hospitals to create Clinical Engineering Departments.
